Homeowner's responsibilites when applying for a building permit

As the applicant of a building permit for your remodel, addition, or new build, you have certain responsibilities. With a project such as the building of a brand new single family home, depending on the location,  the applicant may be responsible for providing verification for one or all of the following items: a valid sewer or individual sewage disposal system, public or private water supply, an encroachment permit and/or road improvement from the County or the State, School District impact fees, copies of dedicated easements, property deeds, boundary surveys.

Since each project and municipality can vary, it's important to talk to your contractor, architect, and/or  your city & county building departments. All these folks can help guide you and ensure you have all your bases covered.
